Ohtani goes supernova: the night Dodgers swept their way to the World Series

Shohei Ohtani’s three-homer, 10-strikeout masterpiece propels the Dodgers past the Brewers and back into the World Series.

Estados Unidos Update:

The Dodgers’ dream of back-to-back championships is more alive than ever after winning Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, led by a spectacular performance from Shohei Ohtani that propelled them into the 2025 World Series. The Los Angeles club clinched the National League pennant by sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers with a dominant 5–1 victory, powered by an outstanding start and three home runs from the Japanese superstar.

The Dodgers now await the winner of the American League Championship Series between the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. Game 1 of the World Series will take place on October 24. If Toronto advances, they will host the opener; if Seattle wins, Los Angeles will enjoy home-field advantage for the majority of games.

Ohtani dazzles from the mound

Shohei Ohtani opened Game 4 of the NLCS in electrifying fashion. The Dodgers’ ace struck out three of the first batters he faced and then launched a home run out of Dodger Stadium in his first trip to the plate.

The home team widened its lead in the same inning thanks to RBI hits from Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernández. Edman singled to center to bring in Mookie Betts, while Hernández added a sacrifice fly that allowed Will Smith to score.

Once again, Ohtani showed why he’s one of the most dominant pitchers in Major League Baseball. The Japanese sensation threw six scoreless innings, racking up 10 strikeouts, issuing three walks, and allowing only two hits.

Shohei Ohtani and the power show

The Dodgers’ designated hitter crushed his second homer of the afternoon in the fourth inning. Facing a 3-1 count, Ohtani blasted a 469-foot rocket beyond center field to extend the lead to 4–0.

After being replaced on the mound by Alex Vesia in the top of the seventh, Ohtani came to bat again in the bottom half and connected for his third home run of the game. Just when it looked like Trevor Megill might strike him out, the two-way star sent another ball deep to center, capping off a five-run display for Los Angeles.

Roki Sasaki seals the sweep

Milwaukee avoided a shutout in the eighth inning when Caleb Durbin doubled, stole third, and scored on a grounder by Brice Turang, which also forced out Andruw Monasterio at second base.

Roki Sasaki came on to close the game. The starter-turned-reliever allowed a single to William Contreras before retiring the next three hitters to secure the final outs and send the Dodgers back to the World Series.
