Ohtani hits his first home run of the 2025 season in the Tokyo Series against the Cubs
The Dodgers, powered by the Japanese star, achieved a resounding 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs in the 2nd game of the 2025 MLB Tokyo Series.

The goal of bringing MLB to Tokyo was achieved, as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs matchup provided a perfect start for the reigning major league champions. Local baseball player Shohei Ohtani shone in front of his home crowd, driving in a 6-3 victory in the second game to complete the sweep of the international series that officially kicked off the season.

The fifth inning was the most anticipated by the Tokyo fans, and with Ohtani’s timing on the plate, the 30-year-old Japanese star hit his first home run of the season, unleashing a frenzy at the Tokyo Dome.
That home run marked Ohtani’s becoming only the second Japanese baseball player to hit a home run in an official season game held in Japan, joining Hideki Matsui, who had previously done so playing for the New York Yankees against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Thus, with Ohtani signaling to the MLB that he will once again seek the MVP award, and with Roki Sasaki finally making his long-awaited debut with the Dodgers, striking out three opponents, the LA team begins its 2025 season with a victory, successfully defending its World Series crown against the Yankees.
