Estados Unidos Update:

Luis Arráez, first baseman for the San Diego Padres, has been placed on the seven-day injured list for a concussionfollowing a violent collision with Houston Astros second baseman Mauricio Dubón during Sunday’s game at Daikin Park. The frightening incident occurred as Dubón attempted to cover first base, colliding hard with Arráez as the Padres player sprinted toward the bag.

Medical staff quickly attended to Arráez, immobilizing him with a neck brace before transporting him off the field via medical cart. He was later taken to Houston Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.

The Padres released a statement confirming Arráez’s condition:

“Luis Arráez was transported to Houston Methodist Hospital for additional evaluation. He is currently stable, conscious, responsive, and able to move his extremities.”

The three-time batting champion remained in Houston overnight on Sunday for observation and flew back to San Diego on Monday, rather than joining the team on their trip to Detroit.

Later, Arráez addressed the incident directly on social media, posting a message of reassurance to fans:

“Dear fans and everyone who was concerned about me after tonight’s collision – I was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital for precautionary tests. There is nothing to worry about, and I’m resting up to rejoin the team. I’m thankful for your prayers, for the care from the Astros and Padres medical staff, and most of all, to God for his protection – I’m okay.”

The Venezuelan star remains one of the league’s elite hitters, batting .755 OPS this season with three home runs and seven RBIs.

While no timeline beyond the mandatory seven days has been set for his return, his quick recovery and positive outlook suggest a cautious but hopeful road ahead.
