What uniforms will the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds wear in the Field of Dreams game?
The second edition of the MLB Field of Dreams game will feature some retro uniforms to make the clash on Aug. 11 feel even more special.
The Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds are two historic franchises whose rivalry will add another interesting chapter this week when they clash in the 2022 MLB Field of Dreams game. A hundred years of history have seen both teams win and lose a lot, but never before in such a place as the Field of Dreams.
Cubs uniform
The Chicago Cubs uniforms for this game will combine a classic cap with the bear-and-bat design, from 1914, with the jerseys they wore during their 1927-1929 campaigns. The Cubs finally broke their curse with their World Series win in 2016, but these clothes are homages to a time when the Cubs had already won the 1907 and 1908 titles, the only ones they would have for over a century.
Reds uniform
The Cincinnati Reds will sport a replica of their 1919 uniforms in this game. The cap features their classic “C” design while the jersey will be white with pinstripes and a big C surrounding the name of the team. The team hopes this selection gives them luck as they finished that season over a hundred years ago with a 96-44 record before beating the Chicago White Sox in the World Series.
Last year’s game, which was decided by a Tim Anderson homerun, was a thrilling contest between the two teams originally in the Field of Dreams movie, the White Sox and the Yankees. Both MLB and its fans hope that we get to see another great duel this week in such a special environment.
