Yankees host Mets this weekend: Subway Series details, times, tickets
Dominican star Juan Soto is set for a return to Yankee Stadium as the Mets as the two New York teams meet for a three game series.

When the MLB schedule is released, there are certain key dates marked in red by fans. For New York residents, those dates fall over this weekend. From May 16-18, Yankee Stadium will be the site of the most anticipated series of the year: Yankees vs. Mets. Aaron Judge vs. Juan Soto. Bronx vs. Queens. But more than all that: it’s the return of the man who spurned the winningest organization for a ton of money.
Since Juan Soto signed the largest contract in American sports history with the Mets—$765 million over 15 years—the entire industry has focused on this weekend and the 2025 Subway Series isn’t just a cyclical rivalry between teams that share a city. This year, it’s a kind of public reckoning. A return laden with meaning. A spectacle that goes far beyond baseball.
"I hate to break it to Yankee fans, Juan Soto's homering in his first at-bat. As much as it pains the Yankee faithful to admit this, they saw it all of last year - when the stage is biggest, grandest - Juan Soto comes through"

In 2024, Juan Soto wasn’t just a star for the Yankees. He was the spark that ignited a dormant machine. With his patience at the plate and a swing that looks like it was drawn by the great painters, the Dominican became one of the Bronx favorites. In his only season with the Bronx Bombers, he batted .313, hit 41 home runs, and led the team to the World Series, where they fell to the Dodgers in six games. He finished third in the American League MVP voting, but won the hearts of the die-hard Bronx fans.

It seemed inevitable that he would stay. But then something happened that no one expected.
While the Yankees dithered. While Hal Steinbrenner and Brian Cashman debated terms, years, money, and—according to several sources—even a private suite for Soto, the Mets didn’t waver.

Steve Cohen, the billionaire hedge fund genius, put $765 million guaranteed on the table. And with that, Soto changed his uniform and broke hearts.
Now, Juan Soto returns to the Bronx, a community that adopted him and then lost him. But he’s not returning as just any visitor. He’s returning as the most expensive man in American sports, and as the protagonist of the most-watched soap opera of the offseason.
How much do tickets cost to see Soto return?
Tickets for the three games are at a premium and fans will have to dig deep to see the Subway Series at Yankee Stadium.
For Friday’s game, the handful of standard tickets start at $157 and the most expensive available for $562.
Less than 50 general seating tickets remain on sale via the Ticketmaster platform for the Saturday session and these range from $199-550.
Sunday’s final game still has some tickets on sale and the prices range from $132-475.

Two teams, two leaders, one divided city
Both teams enter this series atop their divisions. The Mets are 28-15, tied with the Tigers for the MLB winless streak. The Yankees are 24-18, led by Aaron Judge, who has responded like the captain everyone expected, leading the league in home runs with 15 and RBIs with 41.
But all of that, for one weekend, takes a backseat. Because it’s not just about who scores the most runs. It’s about who wins the city.

Juan Soto enters the lion’s den
Before the most anticipated game of the season so far on Friday, Soto acknowledged that the crowd will be even louder than usual at Yankee Stadium.
“It’s going to be 50,000 to one. They’re going to try to attack me, you know? That’s part of it,” Soto said, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
