MLB spring training is underway and the New York Yankees is feeling that their moves have greatly reinforced their chase for the American League East.

One of these reinforcements for the Bronx Bombers is relief pitcher Victor Gonzalez from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The mound is one of the most blatantly desperate areas that the Yankees had to urgently fill, even more so after losing lefty Wandy Peralta to the San Diego Padres.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone is familiar with the qualities of Gonzalez and believes that he will have a leading role with the pinstripes.

“There is a lot to like about him. He is a guy who has pitched in some big games. His reputation is for not shying away from any situation or moment, so I’m excited for what he’s going to bring to our team,” Boone said.

Gonzalez was an important part of the Dodgers bullpen, picking up the win in the decisive Game 6 of the covid-shortened 2020 season’s World Series win by the Dodgers.
