Once again the NBA All-Star Weekend will feature the Rising Stars Challenge. Now in its third consecutive year, the 2024 Panini Rising Stars will offer basketball fans a chance to see a selection of the league’s up-and-coming stars playing in an intense mini-tournament.

The coaches of the 2024 Panini Rising Stars

With tip-off set for 9:00 p.m. ET on Friday, February 16th, the 2024 Panini Rising Stars is a 3-game mini-tournament among 4 teams comprised of NBA rookies, sophomores, and NBA G League players. A showcase of the league’s young talent and without a doubt worth watching. Regarding who will be coaching the teams, each team will consist of seven players and will be led by four legends of the game: Pau Gasol (Team Pau), Tamika Catchings (Team Tamika), Jalen Rose (Team Jalen) and Detlef Schrempf (Team Detlef).

A six-time NBA All-Star and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, Gasol will be taking on the coaching role for the second time, after leading his team to the Rising Stars championship just last year. Alongside Gasol, we’ve got Catchings who is a legend of the women’s game. Star of the Indiana Fever and a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, Catchings led the Fever to the 2012 WNBA championship. Next up we’ve got Rose who was a critical part of the Pacers team that reached the 2000 NBA Finals with the likes of Reggie Miller and Chris Mullin. Incidentally, Rose was also voted the Kia NBA Most Improved Player that same season. Last but not least, we’ve got Schrempf, a three-time NBA All-Star who won back-to-back Kia NBA Sixth Man Awards with the Pacers in the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons.
