Angel Reese, the WNBA’s top rookie this season alongside Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a wrist injury. “I’ve shown that I belong in this league even when no one believed in it. All I ever wanted was to make it to the WNBA and make an impact,” the Chicago Sky player wrote on her X social media account on Saturday.

The Chicago franchise explained that after Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese underwent medical tests which revealed a problem with her wrist which will keep her out for the remaining six games of the regular season.

Which 2024 WNBA regular season games will Angel Reese miss?

  • 9 Sept Dallas @ Chicago
  • 12 Sept Washington @ Chicago
  • 14 Sept Chicago @ Minnesota
  • 16 Sept Phoenix @ Chicago
  • 18 Sept Chicago @ Atlanta
  • 20 Sept Chicago @ Connecticut

Along with Clark, with whom he starred in a vibrant rivalry in college basketball, Reese has caused a sensation in her first season in the league, averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

The former LSU player, who was selected with the seventh pick in the draft was also selected for the All-Star team.

In June, the 22-year-old broke the single-season record for consecutive double-doubles, set by Los Angeles Sparks legend Candace Parker in 2015. In her rookie year, Reese has notched an astonishing 26 double-doubles - one of several WNBA records she has reset.

She falls just short of the all-time record of 28 held by the Connecticut Sun’s Alyssa Thomas who managed the feat in 40 regular season games last year.
