Update:

Another NBA All-Star Game has come and gone, with the league’s top American stars clearly asserting their dominance in the new round-robin format featuring three teams, two made up of home-grown talent. With Team World suffering two defeats, USA Stars, led by Anthony Edwards, comfortably defeated USA Stripes in the championship game at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

Edwards shines across three games

Edwards bagged 32 points, nine rebounds and three assists in three 12-minute games, top-scoring with 13 in USA Stars’ opening game against Team World, then following up with 11 and eight-point hauls in back-to-back matchups against USA Stripes.

All-American lineup makes it look easy

The Timberwolves guard and his teammates, including Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Maxey and Devin Booker, scored a dominant 47-21 win in the championship game over the second all-American team, featuring LeBron James, Jaylen Brown and Jalen Brunson.

It means a lot,” said Edwards after being named All-Star MVP for the first time. “I love Minnesota, and I know Minnesota loves me. I said I wasn’t going to put on a show for them but I gave them a show.

Edwards joins Timberwolves royalty

Edwards becomes just the second Timberwolves player ever to win the award, now named after Kobe Bryant, following Kevin Garnett in 2003.

Los Angeles/Minneapolis Lakers players have won the prize a record 11 times, followed by the Boston Celtics with nine.

Bryant, between 2002 and 2011, and Bob Pettit, between 1956 and 1962, are the only two men to have been named All-Star MVP on four occasions.
