Britney Spears slapped in the face while trying to get Victor Wembanyama’s autograph. What do we know?
The American pop star found herself on the wrong side of a rather unfortunate situation when she attempted to get the autograph of Victor Wembanyama.
You’d think that being a universally famous award-winning pop star would give you ease of access when asking for the autograph of a fellow celebrity but that was most definitely not the case when the Grammy winner attempted to snag the signature of the NBA’s newest star.
Britney Spears was struck by Victor Wembanyama’s security
According to reports on Thursday, American pop star Britney Spears was hit in the face by one of the members of Victor Wembanyama’s security team on Wednesday night at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel in Las Vegas, while attempting to ask the French star for an autograph. It is understood that Spears approached the Spurs’ No. 1 pick from behind and tried to tap him on the shoulder. At that point, security took action and things got physical. As for what exactly happened, the individual who is said to be involved in the situation is the director of security for the San Antonio Spurs, Damian Smith.

At present there appear to be conflicting reports about whether Smith actually hit Spears in the face, or pushed her hand away such that it hit her in her own face. Either way, we do know that law enforcement officials were set to meet with Spears on Thursday morning to discuss the situation. There has been no official word as to whether this is being treated as a criminal situation nor whether charges will be filed, however, there is an investigation ongoing.
What happened after the incident involving Britney Spears?
Following the altercation, Spears is said to have “composed herself” before walking back to her table. Smith reportedly approached her table soon after in an effort to apologize and before long was seen engaged in conversation with Spears’ own security team. He reportedly said, “You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans,” before explaining that he was unaware of who she was at the time. As per reports, Spears is said to have accepted the apology. With that said, reports also suggest that Spears’ team met with Metropolitan police afterward and went as far as to file a police report in which battery was alleged.
