The Denver Nuggets won their first NBA Title in franchise history, and shortly after that head coach Michael Malone was already thinking about a dynasty. If they are going to do so, it looks like they are going to have to do it without a big playmaker off the bench.

According to a report by one of the most recognized insiders in the NBA, Shams Charania from The Athletic, Bruce Brown will not be exercising his player option for the next season.

“Denver Nuggets player Bruce Brown Jr. is declining his $6.8 million player option for the 2023-24 season and will become a free agent, sources tell The Athletic and Stadium . Brown, a key member of the Nuggets title, faces the decision of returning to Denver in free agency versus a deal elsewhere”, said Charania.

Bruce Brown signed with the Mile High side last summer and quickly became a game changer on both sides of the ball. He can play either the guard or forward position, and while he is known for his defense, showed how dangerous of a weapon on the offensive end he is off the bench.

During the Nuggets run to their first title ever, he averaged 12 points and four rebounds.

In the Championship parade Nuggets coach Michael Malone noted that the team wants to keep Brown; but they cannot offer him more than 7.8 million for the next season.
