Update:

The Los Angeles Lakers’ seven-game winning streak ended in emphatic fashion on Monday as the Phoenix Suns rolled to a 125-108 victory at Crypto.com Arena in LA.

Brooks and Doncic on form

Dillon Brooks was in sharp form for the Suns, scoring 33 points, second in the game only to the inevitable Luka Doncic, who finished with 38 along with 11 rebounds and five assists. LeBron James, who recently returned from injury, was far less effective. He posted only 10 points and three assists in 31 minutes.

Brooks and LeBron reignite their back-and-forth

After the game, Brooks addressed his “history” with LeBron, a back-and-forth that has seen the two trade verbal jabs over the years. They were involved in a heated exchange on Monday, and Brooks even mimicked James’ shoulder shrug celebration after a bucket.

I’m a competitor,” Brooks said. “I don’t really like the smiling and the giggling and all that. I was just letting him know that I’m here and I’m still rising.”

Does LeBron take offense?

The Canadian wing was also asked whether James had taken offense at anything said between them.

Always, always, always,” Brooks replied with a straight face. “He likes people who are going to bow down. I don’t bow down. That either entices him or it aggravates him.”

Next Suns-Lakers meeting

Fans will not have to wait long for another round of potential fireworks between the Suns and Lakers, and between Brooks and James. The teams meet again on Tuesday, December 23, this time at PHX Arena.
