Fractured face could keep Embiid out for the 76ers
The 76ers star is listed on his team’s official injury report ahead of the game against the Hornets.
76ers center Joel Embiid was named on the official NBA injury list ahead of the upcoming game against the Charlotte Hornets in which the Philadelphia side will be looking for the clean sweep for the season.
Embiid is listed as questionable ahead of the game, with a right sinus fracture the cause listed on the official report that all teams must submit. The Olympic gold medallist suffered the injury against the Pacers after a clash: he had returned just one game earlier, shining against the Chicago Bulls.
Who will play for the 76ers if Embiid is injured?
His season has been thwarted by injuries and Embiid has only featured 6 times all season, leading to frustration from fans. If he does not make the game against the Hornets, Andre Drummond and Guerschon Yabusele would continue in their role of covering for him.
Embiid, 30, will look to participate with his team who are on a stunning upwards trajectory of five wins in their last seven, with a recent victory over the Hornets on Monday starring both Tyrese Maxey and Paul George who combined for a sensational 73 points.
As for Charlotte, they have lost 11 of their last 12 and are spiralling: three consecutive defeats have them scrambling for a win from somewhere and against a rampant 76ers the win looks unlikely.
And it gets worse: against the Hornets, Embiid has been nothing short of deadly. He has averaged 30.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 blocks. The 7-time All-Star has been shooting 58.1%, with 34.5% from 3 and 82.3% from the free-throw line.
