Today's win means that Steve Kerr's men mathematically secure a place in the second stage of the competition as Greece now face New Zealand with the winner joining Team USA from Group C.

In the opener against Jordan, shooting guard Giannoulis Larentzakis was the main scoring outlet for Dimitrios Itoudis’ team netting 19 points and the Olympiakos player was on court for just over 22 minutes and much of Greece’s hopes on going far in the tournament will depend on his shooting.
Orlando Magic Power Forward Paolo Banchero was the standout player for the US in the opening game as he bagged 21 points for Steve Kerr's team as part of the opening game win over New Zealand.
Should things go the way of the form book, Greece could even afford to lose to the US today and then advance to the second round with a win over New Zealand on the last day of the group stage.
The US will face (already eliminated) Jordan with New Zealand taking on Greece, with both games taking place next Wednesday.

Speaking ahead of the game against Greece, US coach Steve Kerr acknowledged that Greece are a very 'resilient and physical team'.
Greece looking to surprise USA
In a friendly game in the build-up to the World Cup, the American side were too strong for Greece winning 108-86 during its 5-0 run through the USA Basketball Showcase ahead of the tournament.
The United States will take on Greece in their second FIBA 2023 World Cup group-stage game.
Steve Kerr’s men will face the Europeans after facing New Zealand, while their third and final game before the knockout rounds will be against Jordan.
The Americans will be looking to win their sixth gold medal in a World Cup and overtake former Yugoslavia as the national team with the most victories in the international tournament.
In the earlier Group C game played this morning, New Zealand were too strong for Jordan with the Asian side now bowing out of the tournament following two defeats.
The final score saw the New Zealanders win 95-87.
The clash between USA and Greece will take place today at the Mall of Asia in Manilla and is scheduled to get underway at 8.40 a.m. ET/5.40 a.m. PT.
