Update:

After a shaky start to the 2025 NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder have taken control of the series thanks to back-to-back victories over the Indiana Pacers, which have given them a 3-2 lead.

Thunder one win away from history

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co now have the opportunity to clinch the franchise’s first ever NBA championship in a potentially historic Game 6, which takes place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Thursday, June 19 (tipoff at 8:30pm ET).

Before the start of the series, the Thunder were seen as strong favorites to prevail after performing superbly during the regular season. However, the Pacers got off to an excellent start, posting come-from-behind victories in Games 1 and 3 to lead 2-1.

Momentum with Oklahoma going into Game 6

As anticipated, though, Mark Daigneault’s team have managed to turn the tables and learned from their mistakes in those early defeats, with Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams playing key roles in their comeback in the series so far.

All signs point to another Thunder victory, which would see a new NBA champion crowned on Thursday. Oklahoma go into Game 6 full of belief after consecutive triumphs against Indiana, who they also defeated twice in the regular season. To make matters worse for the Pacers, point guard Tyrese Haliburton is rated questionable due to a leg injury.
