How many years are left on Giannis’ contract with the Bucks? Antetokounmpo salary in Milwaukee
Talk of a Giannis trade has returned following a confrontation with Milwaukee fans on Tuesday night.

After 13 years with the Milwaukee Bucks, is Giannis Antetokounmpo finally nearing the exit?
That’s what it looked like on Tuesday night, when the nine-time NBA All-Star took aim at the Milwaukee fans booing the team. After being subjected to boos, Giannis scored a third-quarter layup and booed back at the crowd.

The team went on to suffer a 139-106 loss to an injury-hit Minnesota Timbers and that gesture from Giannis may have represented a crucial break from supporters. Rumors of a trade have been rife this season and there would be no shortage of interest from right across the league.
How long is left on Giannis’ contract?
One day before the 2023-24 NBA season began, the ‘Greek Freak’ announced that he had signed a contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks. That three-year extension would potentially keep him in Milwaukee through 2027/28, earning him an extra $186 million. The final year is a player option.
At that point he was about to enter the third year of the contract signed in December 2020. That was a five-season deal worth $228 million that included a player option for the 2025/26 season. The option was initially valued at $51.5 million but it increased to $57.6 million with the contract extension.
Here is the breakdown on the Giannis extension in Milwaukee:
— Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) October 23, 2023
25-26 $57,604,893
26-27 $62,213,285
27-28 $66,821,676-Player Option
The $57.6M salary in 2025-26 replaces a $51.5M player option.
The extension is based on the salary cap increasing 10% in 2024-25 and 2025-26.
Two and a half years on, Giannis remains one of the most dominant players in the NBA. However his window to win a second championship is starting to narrow and the Bucks look unlikely to challenge anytime soon.
Back in October, Giannis admitted that he was eager to challenge for another ring and refused to rule out a move away from Milwaukee if the team was not competitive.
“I’ve said this many times: I want to be in a situation that I can win,” he said. “I believe in this team. I believe in my teammates. I’m here to lead this team to wherever we can go. It’s definitely going to be hard. We’re going to take it day by day, but I’m here. So all the extra stuff does not matter.”
“I’ve communicated with my teammates, communicated with the people I respect and love, that the moment I step on this court or in this facility, I wear this jersey, the rest does not matter. I’m locked into whatever I have in front of me. Now, if in six, seven months I change my mind, I think that’s human, too.”
