Pacers vs Knicks is always wild
The shot that Andrew Nembhard took - see below - to essentially put the game out of reach in the dying seconds of Friday night's game more or less epitomized the Pacers effort in Game 3. It was gutsy, timely, and a bit desperate.
Indeed there was definitely an element of desperation in the air of the Gainbridge Fieldhouse arena, but when you consider what the Pacers were facing as they came into this game, that's completely understandable. Remember, no team in NBA history has ever overturned a 3-0 deficit. Of course, they no longer have to worry about that possibility as the series is now 2-1, but they do have a game to play on Sunday and it will follow what has to be considered an absolutely intense contest.
On either end of the court, the Pacers and Knicks took it out on each other. Whether it was the physicality in defense or fearless effort on offense, it's safe to say there will be a whole lot of soreness in the morning.
Yet, it's got to be said, there are a few individuals who need to be highlighted despite the show put on by both sides. To begin with, we've got to talk about Tyrese Haliburton. Tied with New York's Donte DiVincenzo on 35-points for the game high score, Haliburton was something to behold. From his playmaking and reading of the rhythm, to his ice cold shooting from deep, there was little the Knicks could do to stop him.
That brings us to Jalen Brunson, who it has to be said was equally sensational. While Nesmith did his best to slow Brunson down, he could not actually stop him and that's something that kept the game close all night.
Ultimately, Indiana will be feeling themselves tonight as they showed both character and productivity. That said, there is a long way to go in this series and while they may have staved off certain elimination, they're not out of the woods yet. With that, we wish you a good and hope that you will join us on Sunday when these two go at it again!

Brunson misses and the Pacers get the rebound. Immediate foul which means the Pacers will have 2 free throws. Could it be they've secured the win?
Knicks have no timeouts left. Everything about this point has got to be about the Pacers stopping the Knicks from shooting 3s, something they haven't been able to do all night.
WOW! Nembhard with a dagger to the heart! Huge 3 pointer from well outside the arc. The Pacers want this!
Brunson for 3!!! Tied Game!
A miss from Haliburton followed by a miss from Brunson. Pacers break and goal tending is called on McBride. Pacers up by 3!
Brunson is fouled and will go to the line where he misses his first but makes his second. Pacers up by 1.
Huge play by the Pacers as Turner gets the block on a Knicks break. The ball is fed immediately to Nembhard who gets the layup!
Hart goes in hard and then goes down hard after getting fouled by Siakam. He will go to the line. Pacers are up by 1.
Off the jump ball it's the Knicks who come way with it and it's Brunson with a 3-point attempt but he misses. Haliburton brings it up.
The challenge is successful but it's going to be a jump ball at the center circle.
Like clockwork, it's Brunson again forcing Nesmith into a foul. He will go to the line, but Carlisle has challenged the call.
Nesmith is once again unable to stop Brunson who gets 2. Knicks are up by 1. In response Siakam takes it to the hoop and is fouled. He will go to the line.
Off the inbound Haliburton sets things up but Siakam's shot misses and Turner fouls Hart on the rebound.
The ball is finally judged to have gone off of Brunson, which means New York loses a timeout. Pacers ball.
We've got a challenge on a call as Brunson believes it was off of the Pacers. For the moment we wait. Pacers are up by 1.
Knicks are starting to struggle in their effort to score, but so too are the Pacers.
Big play as Josh Hart is called for an offensive foul. Pacers ball which in turn is followed by an offensive foul on Nembhard!
Pacers are now up by 1 but the Knicks are back at it
Foul on Siakam right under the hoop. The big man will go to the line with an opportunity to restore the lead.
It's getting wild here but we've got a jump ball
We're back at it as Siakam ties the game. Knicks bring it up but miss and Pacers unfortunately do the same.
Another big play from the Pacers as Siakam makes a difficult shot and gets the foul. He will go to the line where he can possibly tie the game.
Another great piece of play by Haliburton who finds Turner. The big man is fouled. Pacers will inbound.
Brunson is at the line after a Nesmith foul but he misses his first. It's not the same story with the second. It's a 3-point game.
Haliburton with the steal and the basket. It's a 2 point game!
After a Nesmith attempt the Pacers give up the ball but DiVincenzo's pass doesn't find it's mark and they get the ball back after it goes out of bounds. That's lucky.
Haliburton takes a hard foul and looks a bit shaken up, but he gets a bucket and the sinks the resulting free throw. It's a 6 point Knicks lead!
Unfortunately McBride answers with a 3 of his own and the Knicks once again put the squeeze on. The Knicks are 13 of 20 from beyond the arc. that's 65%
Turner gets a big 3 from the corner. That will definitely help their cause as he cuts the lead to 6.
Pacers are trying their best as they find Shepard in the corner for the 3-point attempt but it comes up short and the Knicks are on the break.
Siakam catches a fast pass in the paint but he's fouled on his attempt. He will go to the line.
A massive 3 from DiVincenzo who is on 35 points for the night. The Pacers need to stop this guy!
It's the 4th quarter folks, which means it's a case of now or never for the Pacers. While it's not impossible to overturn a 3-0 deficit, no team in NBA history has ever done it before.
That's the end of the 3rd and the Knicks have themselves a 5 point lead.
Knicks close out the quarter but unbelievably the run out the shot clock. Pacers ball with 3 on the clock.
Knicks are taking control of this game at this point. DiVincenzo thought he was fouled but the Knicks went about their business as usual.
Burks is fouled and he will go to the line. The Pacers need to regroup ahead of the 4th quarter.
That's a foul! McBride is found guilty of a blocking foul on McConnell but on the resulting possession the PAcers turn it over. Not the best time.
From 12 points down, the Knicks are now up by 4, their largest lead of the night.
Huge play there with a block on Haliburton which leads to the break where DiVincenzo lays it up and gets the foul. Knicks take the lead!
Brunson like clockwork. At this point, the Knicks' star just can't miss
DVincenzo is called for goal tending. The Pacers are up by 3 with just over 3 left on the clock.
It's McConnell who gets in for a momentum denting fade away.
Again it's Brunson with the floater over Nesmith. He's winning the battle. It's a 2 point game.
Haliburton answers with a smooth move through the paint for 2.
A nasty fadeaway from Brunson over Nesmith. The Knicks are still in this.
Brunson tries his luck in the paint but he misses the floater. Pacers fight for the rebound and it's out of bounds off of Brunson. Haliburton will inbound.
That's a PAcers timeout!
Haliburton is blocked by Achiuwa who then fires a pass to DiVincenzo, who in turn thanks his teammate by nailing the 3!
Siakam with a fade away jumper now. The Pacers are pouring it on at this point as it's an 11 point lead!
And another. That's Siakam from the corner with 3. Meanwhile Josh Hart has gone to the bench..
It's raining 3s in Indiana. That's Haliburton with a big one. He's got 6 on the night!

DiVincenzo appears to have shaken off his fall as he takes it to the hoop for a quick 2.

DiVincenzo goes in hard and collides with Nesmith. The Knicks' player is called for an offensive foul, but it appears the team will challenge the call.
We're back at it and the Knicks get us rolling. Nesmith is all over Brunson and to be honest, it looks like it's starting to get to the Knicks' star.
Riding the clock Brunson is forced into a floater which he misses. Haliburton with the rebound and he goes all the way to the hoop. Despite his miss, it's Turner who is right there to put it back. Knicks call the timeout and we're at 67-58 Pacers.
And away we go! Turner gets things started with a nice move to the hoop for an layup.
What can we say about the first half?
Truthfully, as much as the Pacers have been impressive on offense - especially Tyrese Haliburton - they have made a series of silly fouls and turnovers which have allowed the Knicks to hang around.
While it's true that the Knicks have been shooting very well, the game would not be as close as it currently is, were it not for the silly errors that Indiana has made.
It's likely that the Knicks with a depleted roster will fade in the 2nd half, but the Pacers would do themselves a whole lot of good if they can tidy things up.
Jalen Brunson is something special
Call it tenacity or toughness. Either way you cut it Jalen Brunson just knows how to get things done. The reason the Knicks continue to keep things close is purely down to his contribution.

If this doesn't end well for the Indiana Pacers, it won't be for the lack of trying on Haliburton's part. The The 24-year-old has lit up the arena tonight.
That's halftime in Indiana after a wild first half. The Pacers are playing with an intensity that we haven't seen before. Given the circumstances, that's understandable, but what's truly something to behold is the way in which the Knicks are quietly keeping pace.
For all that Tyrese Haliburton and Co. are putting up, Jalen Brunson and his men are continuing to answer. For all intents and purposes, we appear to be watching a game that's going to come down to the wire.
Siakam draws the foul and will go to the line as we come down to the end of the first half.
Jalen Brunson just seems to know how to score from any angle regardless of how much pressure is on him. That's the truth.
Siakam with a smooth move to get a lay up in the lane.
It's a flagrant which means Indiana gets 2 free throws and they can retain possession of the ball.
We're inside the final minute and Turner is fouled hard by Burks. Could there be a flagrant?
Some back and forth but the Knicks turn it over after Achiuwa commits an offensive foul.
Achiuwa gets in for a quick 2 and so to does Brunson after a Haliburton turnover.
Tyrese Haliburton is owning this game. That's a huge 3-pointer! Pacers are up by 6!
Make that 20 for Haliburton as he goes coast to coast on a Pacers surge. It was Brunson who was blocked that led to the break.
Haliburton with a deft lob for 2. He's got 18 first half points now.
Myles Turner is fouled on his way to the hoop and will go to the line. He will need to be more present if the Pacers have any hope of getting a win tonight.
It's end to end at this point but it ends with a huge 3 from Burks and the Knicks have their first lead of the night!
Burks is fouled after a scramble for the ball and he will go to the line. He sinks the first and the second. We're tied at 46.

The Pacers get us back in it with a massive 3 from Turner after to some swift ball movement around the arc.
The Knicks attempt to break up the rhythm with a timeout.
Haliburton drills a step back three and the PAcers are up by 4. That's not enough though. The Knicks turn over the ball on the resulting possession and Haliburton sinks another from beyond the arc in response.
Burks is in off the bench for New York an immediately gets 2 off the jumper and the foul. He scores from the line as well and we've got a 1-point Knicks lead.
Here we go again and the Pacers turn over the ball off of the inbound.
The Pacers call a timeout after seeing the 12-point lead reduced to 2. They will need to stay focused here. This is now more about the mental side of things than it is about what they are doing on either end of the court.
DiVincenzo answers with a big 3. Knicks are down by just 2 now.

We're back at it and it's Brunson who starts things off with a 3-point attempt that's well short. Pacers come back with it through Turner who is blocked. Knicks bring it up.
Haliburton is having a go!
The Pacers star knows he's got to bring his best game tonight and so far, he's doing just that!
Nesmith wanted a 3 but the refs call it 2. Knicks with the final possession of the quarter. and it's a huge block by Nesmith on the final play of the quarter.
That's DiVincenzo with another 3. Brunson found him with a smooth dish.
Oooo. That's DiVincenzo with the 3 and the Knicks are all of a sudden finding their stride. It's 24-17 Indiana.
We're going back and forth now and both teams are missing their attempts, but exchange is ended by a foul on Simms, who is left clutching his head after being struck by McBride.
Hart gets the rebound from a Haliburton attempt from beyond the arc, but he misses his own attempt at the other end, only for Haliburton to get the rebound and then score!
Jalen Brunson is back on the court
While it's good news for the Knicks to have their star back, he appears to be limping slightly. That can't be good. I say that and he passes the ball to nobody. That's a turnover.
We've got an intense game on our hands, as Josh Hart throws some water on the Pacers' fire with a deft move inside the paint. Rick Carlisle calls a timeout, having seen what's starting to happen i.e., the Knicks are finding their rhythm.
That's Turner showing his worth, with a strong drive to the hoop. Pacers are now up 20-10
Tyrese Haliburton is having a monster game so far as he takes on two defenders and gets inside to make the layup.
Shepard makes the steal and runs the length of the court for an easy layup. Pacers lead 16-8.
Brunson is in trouble
We're just seeing replays of Brunson and it looks like that sore footis causing him a problem. That's not good news for the Knicks.
DiVincenzo drives to the ring but is fouled by Turner. He will go to the line.

We're back at it and the Pacers are definitely up for this. Haliburton rides the shot clock and misses the three from the corner, but it's clear the Pacers want this.

In these first few minutes, we've definitely seen a level of intensity from the Pacers that was missing in the previous two games. They are looking for high percentage shots, rather than forcing the play. It also helps that Tyrese Haliburton has come to play tonight.
The Knicks have seen enough and have called a timeout!
The Pacers once again move the ball around the perimeter to find Haliburton who once again drains a three.

That's Nesmith with a three and the Pacers have their first lead. We're at 6-3.
We've seen a few misses in these open exchanges with the score still tied at 3.

Haliburton misses an open look from three and Brunson brings it up court immediately, but is called for an offensive foul as he drives to the hoop.

Expect fireworks in this one as the Knicks will be looking to dismiss any idea that they've been helped by refereeing decisions, something the Pacers have alleged.
When all is said and done, this is going to come down to basketball. Which team can play the better ball is the team that will win. So far, the Knicks have been that team. Led by Jalen Brunson, New York has been solid in all departments. The Pacers on the other hand, have seemingly focused on complaining about calls - some of which is justified - rather than focusing on their game.
Ultimately, a loss for Indiana tonight won't officially end their season, but you could as well consider it over at that point.

Knicks fans did the best they could when it came to complimenting the Pacers. It goes without saying that the team itself won't be as forthcoming.
Yup, bad news for the Pacers...
There is no way to say it really. Jalen Brunson is playing some unreal basketball in these playoffs. If the Pacers are to get back into this series, it will start with keeping the Knicks' star quiet. Of course, that's much easier said than done.

But not so much for the Pacers. Whether we enter into the debate about referees, the fact remains that the Knicks' star has been unstoppable in the playoffs.

Between the Pacers' need to move beyond the chatter and the Knicks' desire to prove what's being said wrong, we've got ourselves a proper psychological thriller. As much as the Knicks have been here before and come out on top, the question of whether they can do it again is still quite valid.
While he may no longer be a Celtics player, it's hard not to shine a light on what he did as we prepare for Game 3 of his former team's series with the Cavs.
The Pacers coach was always walking a thin line with his comments. On the other hand, does he have a point?

So, here's the thing. As fans we've got the benefit of video replays and various angles of view etc. If we're honest, there were more than a few calls that didn't go the way of the Pacers across the last few games. Of course, the Pacers aren't the only team in the NBA or in professional sports for that matter who could sing that song.
That of course immediately leads to the the question of whether the Knicks would be 2-0 up in the series without the 'help' of officials. From where we're standing, that's not the case i.e., the team has simply handled its business, while the Pacers have not. To be clear that's not to say we haven't seen some strange decisions, but when all is said and done, you gotta handle your business.
At any rate, you can see below that one Knicks star had a diplomatic but fair response to the debate. With that, we're betting that his take will only serve to add fuel to the fire and that's something we're looking forward to watching tonight. Enjoy!

So, here we are once again and before we start, let me say it's a pleasure to have you. As you clearly know, we've got another exciting 2024 NBA playoffs game scheduled for the night and quite frankly, it promises to be something special.
The New York Knicks are currently leading the Indiana Pacers in the series 2-0, but it would be a mistake to believe that the series is done and dusted. Consider for a moment that both games were within two points during the last five minutes. Yes, the Knicks did win the last game by nine points, but that was on the back of the most efficient performance of any team in the last two postseasons.
This is where we come to the details. For starters the Knicks were already struggling with injuries before this series and if we're honest, things have gotten worse in the last 48 hours. At present Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and Bojan Bogdanovic are all sidelined due to injury and now, so too is OG Anunoby who has been derailed by a hamstring issue.
What about the Pacers you ask. Well, as mentioned before, there has been a lot of chatter about the refereeing in this series, with the Pacers filing some 78 complaints following their Game 2 defeat. What that means is that we can expect to see some form of 'favoritism in Game 3 as the league will undoubtedly seek to demonstrate that the Pacers haven't been unfairly treated, but the reality remains that the Knicks have simply been playing great basketball.
That said, the irony is that the Pacers,with their ball and player movement, probably have the better offense. On other hand, the Knicks have got Jalen Brunson who has been unstoppable in the playoffs so far. When all is said and done, tonight's game is make or break for the Pacers and an opportunity to lay down a marker for the Knicks. Stay with us to see how this all turns out!
