According to information provided to Shams Charania by The Athletic, superstar player Kevin Durant has informed the owner of the Brooklyn Nets organization, Joe Tsai, that he will continue to want a trade from the company unless head coach Steve Nash and general manager Sean Marks are dismissed.

According to reports, Durant issued the ultimatum because he had lost confidence in how the team had been led.

After a dismal season that resulted in an early departure from the playoffs, the player who had previously won the Most Valuable Player award asked to be traded at the end of June. At the time, there was little information available regarding the motivations for his choice.

Charania stated that the meeting that took place on Saturday was “transparent and professional,” and that the Nets have “direct knowledge of the reasons behind Durant’s request.” Additionally, the Nets are aware that Durant will continue to be “resolute” in his pursuit of a trade.

What happened with the Nets last year?

The previous season began with Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden creating a superstar trio; however, Irving did not play for the bulk of the season because he failed to get the COVID-19 vaccination. Additionally, Harden was eventually traded to the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a deal that resulted in the arrival of Ben Simmons, who did not participate in a single game during the previous season.

In the event that Durant decided to remain with the team, he would be able to create something of a Big Three with Irving and Simmons, in addition to a strong supporting cast that would include players such as Royce O’Neale, T.J. Warren, Patty Mills, Nic Claxton, and Joe Harris.

Hall of Famer Nash has led the Nets for the past two seasons. It is his first position as a paid coach. Marks, meanwhile, took over as general manager in 2016 after serving as a Spurs assistant in San Antonio
