Kevin Durant, NBA star and recent Olympic champion, is set to become a minority shareholder of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the coming hours. The forward visited the Parisian club last week, and in a statement, PSG confirmed plans to unveil a future collaboration with the American athlete.

Durant’s involvement with PSG follows his visit to Poissy during the Olympic Games, where he played a crucial role in securing the championship by defeating France in the final. He will become the second minority shareholder in the club, following the American investment fund Arctos, which acquired 12% of PSG’s shares.

The deal is expected to be announced in the coming days, marking another step in PSG’s expansion efforts. The club has been open to new investors since the conclusion of the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi expressed high regard for the Phoenix Suns player, who was photographed alongside PSG players, as well as Luis Campos and Luis Enrique. As a shareholder, his role is expected to be minimal.

“Kevin is an inspirational athlete, an investor and a role model, both on and off the field. We are very proud of his connection to the Paris Saint-Germain family, as we share the same values and vision. We look forward to strengthening our relationship and working with Kevin and Boardroom to bring the best in sport and entertainment to fans around the world,” said Al Khelaïfi, with whom Durant finalised the deal.
