Lakers’ star LeBron James rules out playing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles: “I will be watching it”
The legendary NBA star has already competed in four Olympic Games for Team USA but he will not be making a fifth appearance in LA.

Now 40 years old, LeBron James could make his 2025/26 season debut against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night.
The veteran superstar has been sidelined for the first month of the season due to a sciatica, only recently returning to the court to practice with the G League affiliate South Bay Lakers.
Speaking to reporters this week, James has insisted that he feels ready to compete for an NBA championship once again. But on a recent podcast appearance he admitted that the 2028 Olympic Games, hosted in Los Angeles, will probably be a step too far.
Will LeBron James play at the 2028 Olympics?
A new podcast series shows a conversation between James and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry. Two of the defining players in NBA history, both are now in the twilight of their illustrious careers.
James will be 43 for the 2028 Olympic Games and he ruled out the possibility of trying to make Team USA for a fifth time.

“You already know my answer,” James said, when asked if he wanted to compete at the upcoming Games. “I will be watching it.”
“We can’t top what we just did,” he continued, referencing he States’ dramatic victory over France in the gold medal game at the 2024 Games in Paris. “How we gonna top those last two games?”
Curry is a few years younger but will still be 40 by the time the Olympics comes around. He suggested that he would consider it but seemed content to have his sensational 2024 performance as his last outing at the Olympics.
“God willing, I still have the choice and physical option where I could impact the team,” Curry said. “Never say never, but I highly doubt it. Highly doubt it.”
