LeBron James appeared on the latest episode of the GoJo and Golic podcast, where he expressed his interest in joining a sports broadcast team in the future. The Lakers star mentioned that he’s open to covering either basketball or football and would love to try it after he retires.

After recently claiming that he is “old as f*ck in basketball terms”, the star was asked about his future once he calls it a day on the court. “I don’t know for sure, but I definitely love sport. I love basketball, I love football, and I don’t just watch them as a fan—I break them down,” James said. “When you grow up in Northeast Ohio, you grow up with sports. I’ve seen Tom Brady do it, and he’s been great so far. Who knows? Maybe I’ll make a special appearance for a game or two after I retire. It would be fun to get back into the game. The game has given me so much, if it’s basketball, football or whatever, it’s only right that I give back to it”.

LeBron’s analytical ability is well-known

The NBA legend has already demonstrated his impressive ability to break down games, often seeming to predict what will happen on the court. During the 2023-24 season, he appeared on a podcast with J.J. Redick—now his coach—where he analysed NBA plays and discussed the tendencies of top players like Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, and Caitlin Clark.

In this recent podcast episode, James also reflected on the significance of practicing with his eldest son, Bronny, as they work toward the goal of playing together in the NBA. With Lakers’ practice kicking off this week, LeBron admitted that he is amazed by how sharing the court with his son has changed his practice dynamic.

“This week, we got back in the gym, and it was really the first time Bronny and I trained together on the court as professionals, preparing for the season,” James said. “There were a few moments where I lost focus, which is unusual for me when I’m on the court.”

The Los Angeles Lakers will kick off the 2024-25 NBA season at home on October 22, hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena. That night, the James family is expected to make history.
