In Miami, when NBA Media Day came around, it initially afforded reporters and fans an early look at how the team was getting ready with the new season just a matter of weeks away.

Nowadays, Media Day in the Florida city is inevitably focused on one man with fans and reporters wondering what look will Jimmy Butler be sporting.

Butler’s initial appearances during his first three seasons with the Miami Heat were pretty conventional, but back in 2022, Butler showed up with a brand new hair-do featuring shoulder length dreadlocks that had social media buzzing.

The 35-year-olds appearance went global as the small forward appeared as part of media day in 2023 with a straightened floppy fringe hairstyle, piercings and black finger nail varnish that the player called his “emo” look with the look quickly replaced on court with a more practical headband and braids.

What look will ‘Buckets’ sport this year?

Fashionistas may be a little disappointed if they are hoping to see Butler with an extravagant hairstyle this year with the player last spotted at PSG’s home game at Parc des Princes (Paris) over the weekend with a conventional tightly cropped braided look ahead of the Ligue 1 leader’s win over Rennes (3-1).

Why does Butler keep changing his image?

To coincide with his ‘emo’ look, Butler at the time stated: “I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me,” Butler said. “This is how I’m feeling as of late.”

Whilst there is no definitive reason behind the basketball star to change his public profile so often, a new look is always a great way to keep things interesting and show off different aspects of your personality especially with Butler a key marketing figure as he pushes his own brand of basketball shoes and coffee as part of his product portfolio.
