Not an athlete or coach: here’s what Caitlin Clark’s chosen career would’ve been if not in the WNBA
In a recent Q&A alongside Indiana Fever team-mates, point guard Clark discussed her alternative career path.

Caitlin Clark served up a tasty rookie season in the WNBA last year - but if she hadn’t made it as a professional basketball player, the Indiana Fever star says she would have sought to earn a living as a chef.
Clark revealed her alternative career choice this week in a Q&A alongside fellow Fever players Aliyah Boston, DeWanna Bonner and Kelsey Mitchell.
“I’m actually a very good cook”
In a video filmed by Sports Illustrated, the quartet were tasked with answering questions about each other to test their knowledge of their team-mates.
Faced with the question, “What would Caitlin be doing if she weren’t playing basketball?”, Clark’s colleagues responded: broadcaster, lawyer or doctor.
“Absolutely not,” Clark replied. “The answer I was looking for was a chef. So, I’m actually a very good cook. I made fudge brownies this weekend.”
The 23-year-old added: “I have a great spicy vodka sauce recipe, and I’m making broccoli beef tonight.” She also boasted of baking “elite” double-chocolate cookies.
Clark gearing up for sophomore season
Clark is preparing for her second season in the WNBA, after an impressive debut campaign that saw the former Iowa Hawkeyes point guard win the league’s Rookie of the Year award and earn All-Star selection.
Picked by the Fever at No. 1 in the Draft in April 2024, Clark helped Indiana to playoff qualification for the first time since 2016, averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. She was the WNBA’s assists leader in 2024.
