The news sent shockwaves through the NBA. A late night, late-breaking trade that has restructured the landscape of the league will land Luka Doncic in Los Angeles as Anthony Davis heads to Dallas.

Davis to Dallas, Luka to Los Angeles

Obviously the trade is a bit more complicated for player for player, but with Doncic the Lakers get a certified super star that is in the MVP race year after year. The Mavericks get another big man to plug the paint, and a four-time NBA First team selection.

While it remain to be seen which team comes out of this massive midseason deal on top one thing seems to be clear. The Mavericks were ready to move on from Luka Doncic, who is coming off of a season in which he was an MVP candidate and carried the Mavs to the NBA Finals. While he is a Super star there have been constant questions surrounding his fitness and how he takes care of his body.

The 6’6 scoring machine hasn’t played since Christman, and apparently has entered the top 10 heaviest players in the NBA. One thing to keep in mind is he will be joining LeBron James, who is notorious for staying in top physical shape, in LA.

Doncic has reportedly beefed up to 270 pounds, and that could have come into play during Dallas’ decision to cut ties with the 25 year old sensation. Of the other nine players who entered the season at 270 lbs or more, only one other player is under 6’10” and that’s Zion Williamson, according to NBA.com’s Advanced Stats.
