Not many teams have ever taken the final game in hostile territory, but Indiana could be next.

Not Jordan’s Bulls or Kobe’s Lakers: this is the last team to win a Game 7 of the NBA Finals on the road

The Indiana Pacers head into Game 7 of the NBA Finals in Oklahoma City knowing they’re chasing a piece of rare history. Winning a Game 7 on the road in the Finals? Only four teams have ever done it.
Which teams have won NBA Finals Game7 on the road?
It wasn’t Michael Jordan’s Bulls. Not Kobe Bryant’s Lakers. Not even the Heat’s Big Three. The last team to pull it off? The 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers – led by LeBron James, who delivered the block, and Kyrie Irving, who hit the shot that silenced a 73-win Warriors team in Oakland.
Before that, it took 38 years. The 1978 Washington Bullets edged out the Seattle SuperSonics in a brutal Game 7 in the old Seattle Center Coliseum. Go back further and it’s the 1974 Boston Celtics, who toppled Kareem’s Bucks in Milwaukee, and the 1969 Celtics, who spoiled Jerry West’s 42-point night in LA.
That’s it. Four times in 77 years.
Pacers to topple OKC?
Now, the Pacers – who are sitting at +235 underdogs in Vegas – will try to become the first team since that Cavaliers miracle to steal the title in enemy territory. They already stunned the Thunder once in Oklahoma City. Can they do it again when it matters most?

If they can slow down Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, control the pace, and avoid coughing up the ball, the Pacers have a shot at history. A Game 7 road win that could define their franchise forever.
