Not this time: Caitlin Clark passes on NBA All-Star weekend event
There may not be a more polarizing figure for their sport than Caitlin Clark but the Indiana Fever superstar is passing on this event in All-Star weekend.
The NBA All-Star Weekend is quickly approaching, and one of the names that was speculated to dominate the headlines will not be participating. Caitlin Clark says she is skipping the festive weekend celebrating the NBA’s All-Star.
Clark passes on three point showdown vs. NBA stars
According to the WNBA stars representatives, Excel Sports, has expressed their top clients’ desire to compete in her first three-point contest at the WNBA’s All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis this summer.
Last year we saw one of the coolest event’s the NBA All-Star weekend has put on in the last few decades when Steph Curry and Sabrin Ionescu went head-to-head in a three point Battle of the Sexes. Ionescu had an impressive run to put the pressure on Curry, but the greatest three point shooter the earth has ever seen just edged out the New York Liberty long distance sniper.
According to ESPN, there are apparently on going talks for a rematch between Curry and Ionescu, that could feature other three point specialists like Curry’s former teammate Klay Thompson who is currently with the Dallas Mavericks.
Ionescu will be at NBA All-Star weekend
Ionescu confirmed he would be present during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend seeing as the WNBA season doesn’t start until May, but she declined to elaborate on what she would be doing there.
NBA All-Star weekend will be held a week after the Super Bowl on Feb. 14-16 from San Francisco. Clark on the other hand, has bigger fish to fry as the University of Iowa is planning on retiring her jersey as her alma mater takes on the fourth ranked USC Trojans.
