Update:

It’s been a sad start to the week for Steph Curry, whose maternal grandmother, Candy Adams, passed away on Monday

It was the Golden State Warriors guard’s mother Sonya who broke the news, with a heartfelt goodbye post on Instagram.

Steph Curry’s grandmother passes away

“Heaven gained an angel, and we lost our heart. Today we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A woman who taught us to love fiercely, laugh often, and keep family at the center of everything. Her love lives on in every hug we give, every story we tell, and every lesson she left us with. As Luther said, “A house is not a home when there’s no one there to hold you tight.” You were our home and now your love lives in all of us. Rest easy now, we’ll carry you with us, always. ❤️ I love you Mommy.

Candy Adams was born on May 6, 1949, in Virginia. She completed her high school diploma from Radford High School and went straight into a 9-5 job to support her family instead of attending college. She married her husband, Cleive Ester Adams in the 1960s when they were both in their 20s. The couple had three children: Sonya, Cleive and India but later separated while staying in Radford close to their kids.

Curry not planning on retiring just yet

Steph Curry has been recovering from the hamstring injury he suffered during the conference semifinals. He finished last season averaging 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6 assists per game.

Last week, the 37-year-old was asked whether he was considering retiring and replied that he sees himself playing at the top level for several years yet.

“I just want to be in a position where I’ve put myself in a position where I can say, ‘I’ve done everything I can to get everything out of this game,’” he told Complex. “I’m not anywhere close to that, though. I’ve talked to all the guys that have been in this situation where they’ve extended their prime. There are more ungraceful endings than there are (graceful ones)”.
