Surprising path opens for Giannis Antetokounmpo to join NBA legend

Just days ago, the NBA world was rocked by the news that Giannis Antetokounmpo could be considering a future away from the Milwaukee Bucks. While the player hasn’t explicitly said he wants to leave, speculation has swirled around his openness to exploring new destinations where he might have a stronger shot at competing for championships.

In the wake of the report, the rumor mill spun into high gear. According to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst, the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets have emerged as early frontrunners should the Greek star decide to move on from Milwaukee.

“The Bucks might consider a trade because right now, they don’t have a first-round draft pick for the next five years. Plus, they’d be looking for teams that could offer them intriguing players,” Windhorst said. “The San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets are teams to watch when it comes to Giannis Antetokounmpo.”

Windhorst also pointed out that the Golden State Warriors could have the assets needed to make a play for Giannis, should he request a trade specifically to the Bay Area.

In a potential package, young talent like Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga, along with future NBA draft picks, would likely be required to seal a deal.

“Yes, there’s a package the Warriors could work with. They have some future picks. They’ve got some interesting young players. Last year, no one expected much from Brandin Podziemski. Who knows if that’s the case again this year? But they can’t win a bidding war,” Windhorst explained on ESPN’s Get Up. “First of all, I want to be clear – Giannis hasn’t said he wants to leave Milwaukee, so we shouldn’t take that for granted.

But if we get to the point where Giannis is looking at other options, he’ll be the one to initiate that. He’s got two years left on his contract. The Bucks don’t have to listen to him. But if he comes to them and says, ‘I want to play with Steph [Curry],’ then a deal could happen.”
