Draymond Green is one of the most coveted free agents in the market this offseason and there were two early favorites to land the four-time champ, Los Angeles and Golden State.

However, Yahoo Sports has reported that there are three other teams looking to sign the heart and soul of the Golden State Warriors for the last decade. Jake Fischer revealed that the Portland Trail Blazers, Detroit Pistons and the Sacramento Kings are also highly motivated to bring in Green.

According to the report by Sam Amick of The Athletic, the perfect scenario for Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers would be to re-sign Jerami Grant and add Green in free agency. In order for this to play out, the power forward would need the help of Golden State who would have to do a sign-and-trade.

Sacramento surprised everyone by taking first place in the Pacific division and returning to the playoffs after 16 seasons. Green’s presence would ease the defensive burden on Domantas Sabonis and help distribute the ball so De’Aaron Fox can take on a role similar to Stephen Curry’s with Golden State.

Green declined a player option with the Warriors that would pay him $27.5 million in 2023-24 and Sacramento can offer him as much as $35.6 million with their available cap space.

Coming home with the Pistons

The move to Detroit would be easier and more emotional for Green. First, the Pistons have $40 million in cap space and could sign him without any help from the Warriors. Second, the four-time NBA champion hails from Saginaw, Michigan, which is 100 miles from Little Caesars Arena. Additionally, the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year would serve as a mentor to Jalen Duren and reconnect with James Wiseman.
