The Nets were dealt a blow when they lost their point guard, but after a successful operation they can rest easy given that he will soon be back.

Nets’ Seth Curry has successful ankle surgery

According to a team announcement on Monday, Brooklyn Nets guard Seth Curry underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle and with that is now expected to be available before training camp for the 2022-23 NBA regular season. The sharp shooter was of course traded to the Nets from the 76ers in the deadline day deal that also saw Ben Simmons come to the big apple. For his part, Curry was impressive in during the Nets’ first-round playoff defeat to the Boston Celtics. Across the four games that he played, Curry had an average of 14.5 points, with 56.4% from the field and 52.2% from beyond the arc.

How did Seth Curry come to an ankle operation?

While some may point to the fact Though the Nets season ended quite disastrously, with a first round sweep courtesy of the Boston Celtics it would unfair to not have a look at some specific factors where the Nets and Curry are concerned. Indeed, the reason that Curry is now undergoing an operation lies in one of them. Though the talented point guard had shown himself to be a productive support system for the likes of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, it was in fact to be his undoing. With Simmons out due to an operation on his back, Curry was quite simply asked to play a whole lot more than he normally would have. The end result being that over time he developed acute ankle soreness, though Curry still managed to compete at an impressive level.

Ultimately, it was a scenario that was not sustainable as evidenced in April when Curry disclosed that he was suffering with ankle soreness from even before he was traded to the Nets by the 76ers. Curry would go on to say that he would address the situation in the off-season. It now appears that he has done exactly that.

Do the Nets have a bright future?

As mentioned before the 2021/22 season was an out right disaster for the Nets, yet with Simmons return now imminent and the aforementioned Curry now having had a successful operation, one surely has to imagine the Nets will likely be title Contenders when the new season gets underway. Let’s not forget Kevin Durant had knee issues and Kyrie Irving missed a number of games due to his vaccine related issues. Logic would dictate that when Brooklyn gets its core group together - assuming Irving opts to resign - Curry will be able to get back to what he does best which is draining baskets from long range. The Nets point guard ranked sixth in the league in 3-point percentage last season with 45% in case you were wondering.
