The hottest sports ticket in the Bay Area? It’s not the Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are fighting for their lives Against the Timberwolves in the NBA Playoffs but theirs is not the hottest ticket in town.

On Wednesday evening the Golden State Warriors will take to the court knowing that defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves will end their season.
The stakes could not be higher in this series with the Warriors up against an Anthony Edwards-inspired Timberwolves team at Target Center. However Monday’s Game 4 was not the biggest sporting event of the week in the Bay Area.
The San Jose Earthquakes are rarely given the same sort of attention that the Warriors can draw, but this week is different. The Quakes take on Inter Miami on Wednesday, meaning that Lionel Messi and the rest of his ex-Barcelona teammates will be in town.
There is enormous interest in the game as Messi’s first trip to San Jose with Miami. That has been reflected in the sky-high prices being charged by the Quakes for the game.
A quick look at Ticketmaster shows that the cheapest tickets for the Warriors’ Game 4 at Chase Center were $158. However for the Earthquakes-Inter Miami game the cheapest were at $358, for a standing ticket. If you want an actual seat the prices begin at $400.
And remember, the Warriors game was a key playoff game. The Quakes fixture is a midweek, regular season fixture that will have a fairly minor impact on their regular season finish this year.
The good news for Bay Area soccer fans is that the look very likely to see Lionel Messi for that price. With no injuries to report of it looks like Messi is set to play as the Herons look to stop a serious slump of form, which has seen them lose four of their last five games.
