Update:

Ahead of Game 6 of the NBA Championship Finals, the Indiana Pacers have reportedly received bad news regarding the fitness of their star player, Tyrese Haliburton.

Sources tell ESPN that Haliburton is believed to have strained his right calf during the first quarter of Monday’s 120–109 loss to Oklahoma City and is set to undergo an MRI to assess the severity of the injury.

An underlying calf injury had been plaguing the 25-year-old and a simple misstep in the previous game saw that issue aggravated, with news being filtered out that further medical steps are required before he plays again.

Haliburton unable to replicate regular season form

Tyrese Haliburton turned in a stellar 2024–25 regular season, averaging 20.1 points, 10.9 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 48.3% from the field and 40.2% from three-point range.

A sensational last-second winner in Game 1 was the highlight, but in the rest of the NBA Finals, Haliburton struggled to replicate that form. Through the first five Finals games, he averaged a solid 15.0 points, 7.2 assists and 6.2 rebounds on 45 percent shooting, but Monday’s performance showed that his calf issue was indeed taking its toll after all, becoming the first All-NBA player to miss every shot in a Finals game since 1958.

As for the team as a whole, the Indiana Pacers exceeded expectations throughout the 2024–25 season, finishing with a 52–30 record and boasting one of the league’s most dynamic offences, leading the NBA in pace and ranking top five in points per game.
