What is the maximum number of games that Kyrie Irving would have demanded to play by contract?

Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving has reportedly requested that his new contract guarantee a limit to the number of games he has to play per season.

The Kyrie Irving-Brooklyn Nets saga continues to unfold, and the latest development involves the star point guard’s alleged demands in his new agreement.

NBA insider Ric Bucher said on his podcast On The Ball that Irving has asked for a provision in his contract to indicate that he would not be obliged to appear in more than 60 games per season.

“I’m told he wanted his new contract to guarantee that he wouldn’t have to play more than 60 games in a season and would not have to play any back-to-backs, which he apparently referred to as inhumane,” according to Bucher.

Irving had played in only 29 games last season because his unvaccinated status made him unable to become a full-time player for the Nets.

Kyrie strikes back

After Bucher’s statements, Irving responded to Bucher’s report via Twitter. He replied to a tweet on his reported demands with a GIF of Lorenzo Cain, formerly of the Kansas City Royals, doffing his cap. This seemed to imply that Bucher was “capping”- another word for “lying”.

Soon after, Irving tweeted statements involving media and truth.

“When you’re ready to Break free from the media’s control over your subconscious thoughts and emotions, meet me on One of my platforms and let’s chop it up,” he wrote.

“We the A11Even tribe love our conversations about the TRUTH and what is truly happening.”

The seven-time NBA All-Star has recently been named in trade rumors that involve the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant.
