Update:

The Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder are facing off in Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference semifinals. The Nuggets are currently leading the series 2-1, but it’s been an uneventful first half for them so far, having only dropped eight points by the end of the first quarter.

Lowest-scoring half in NBA playoff history

It was a low-scoring first quarter in general, with Thunder leading the Nuggets with a score of just 17-8 by the end. That was actually the lowest-scoring combined total for a first quarter in NBA postseason history.

With just one quarter left before halftime, could the Nuggets be on track to score the fewest points in a half in NBA history too?

That title currently belongs to the Houston Rockets, who posted just 25 points in the second half of Game 6 in the 2018 Western Conference semifinals. If they can at least make it to 26, they’ll be safe. Then again, they’ll have to score more than 26 in the second half too.

As for the fewest total points scored in the first half of an NBA postseason game? That sad title belongs to the Phoenix Suns, who scored just 27 total points in the first half of their Game 7 against the Dallas Mavericks in the 2022 Western Conference semifinals.
