Why are there no NBA games today, Tuesday, Nov. 5?
Like in the last three regular seasons, the league decided not to organize any games on Election Day, encouraging the fans and players to vote!
All 30 teams were in action last night (Monday), beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Fifteen games started with 15 minutes difference.
This basketball “bonanza,” as the National Basketball Association called it, was a way to clear the schedule for the now annual day without basketball on Election Day.
This initiative was an essential part of the broader campaign organized by the league in collaboration with the players. Alongside a series of promotional videos and social media posts designed to raise awareness, the players actively participated by wearing “VOTE” shirts during their warm-up sessions before the regular season games over the last few weeks.
This visible display promoted voter engagement and emphasized the importance of making voices heard in the democratic process. The campaign, as every year, was aimed to inspire fans and communities to exercise their right to vote.
