Will Cooper Flagg play today for the Dallas Mavericks agains the Timberwolves?
The No. 1 Draft pick is listed on the Mavericks’ injury list ahead of the game.
The Dallas Mavericks are facing yet another injury headache as they prepare to host the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 28, with rookie forward Cooper Flagg listed as questionable on the official injury report.
Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise turbulent season for the Mavericks. At just 19 years old, he has emerged as a key contributor, averaging strong numbers across points, rebounds, and assists, and has quickly become one of the team’s most reliable players. At the time of writing, he has 18.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 47.3% from the field and 28% from beyond the arc.
However, Dallas’ recent stretch has been hampered by health issues, with Flagg now heading the list of eight Mavericks players dealing with various injuries for Wednesday’s game against Minnesota.
What injury does Cooper Flagg have?
Flagg’s uncertain status stems from a sprained left ankle, suffered earlier in the month during a loss to the Denver Nuggets. In that game, he exited after rolling the ankle and did not return for the second half. Prior to this, Flagg had displayed remarkable durability, missing just one game earlier in the season.
As of now, there is no definitive timeline for Flagg’s return to full fitness should he sit out against the Timberwolves, although the nature of his listing on the injury report should calm any nerves. Even so, the medical staff and coaching team are expected to continue a measured approach, waiting for clearer progress in his recovery before committing to his return.
The Mavericks are 19-27 this season and prior to losing to the Los Angeles Lakers, they had put together a solid run, winning four consecutive games, which put them in 11th place in the Western Conference standings.
