The Minnesota Timberwolves currently lead their series against the Phoenix Suns by 2-0, with fantastic 120-95 and 105-93 wins coming at their Target Center arena. Now, it’s the Suns’ turn to host and they will be looking towards Grayson Allen to lift them out of their slump - but will he be fit to do so?

Allen, 28, said that he “feels good, better than I thought” ahead of the game. “I thought it was going to hurt a lot - feels pretty good.”

What injury does Grayson Allen have?

Allen has been out after suffering from an ankle injury. “Whenever you are jumping and landing” he continued, “it’s usually more of a violent roll, so it’s more painful to do it that way than flat on the ground. If you land on somebody’s foot there’s no prevention.”

As for the official NBA injury report, which is submitted by every team to the organisation ahead of tip-off, the Suns have put Allen down as “questionable” and they have cited his injury as being an “ankle sprain”.

Allen also told reporters that he didn’t fully participate in practice but hoped some more time to rest would ultimately help him play on Friday.

The player sprained his ankle in Game 1 before returning to play on Tuesday, where he saw 17 minutes of action before going down again, meaning a cautious approach has been taken by all involved. Many suspect that if Allen cannot participate, Royce O’Neale is the leading candidate to take his spot in the starting lineup.

The Suns host the Timberwolves at Footprint Center on Friday 26 with tip-off at 7:30 p.m. ET / 10:30pm PT. Let’s hope we can watch the game this time.
