College Baseball Rankings: 2024 Week 2

After a shake up in the opening weekend results, we take a look at the winners and losers and see who is climbing and who is falling in the NCAA rankings.

The first weekend of the 2024 NCAA baseball season is in the rearview mirror and there has been a shakeup already, together with some expected top teams solidifying their performance.

From the top down, you have to start with Wake Forest, who performed as expected. Coming into the season ranked number one, they managed to put on a spectacle behind the arm of Chase Burns, as he struck out ten batters in six innings of work against Illinois. They dropped a game to UNC Greensboro on Tuesday and head into a three-game series against Dayton on top of the pile.

Reigning champions LSU showed that they were no worse for the wear having been the donor for much of the first round of last year’s MLB draft. Rolling over VMI with a school record tying 27 runs, the Tigers tagged on two wins over Central Arkansas to stay undefeated and will look to stretch their legs when they face Northern Illinois.

Both Florida and Arkansas tripped at the first hurdle, dropping unexpected early losses to slip their way down the polls, while both TCU and Oregon State leapfrogged them with solid wins against FGCU and Minnesota respectively. Standout Travis Bazzana bolstered his credentials with multiple hits and three home runs over the opening weekend.

Here is the current NCAA D1 Rankings as we head into the second weekend of the season.
