When does March Madness 2024 begin? When will we know what teams are in? Schedule, locations

The 2024 NCAA March Madness tournament will start with the First Four games in Dayton, Ohio, and conclude with the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona.

We’re getting close to the third month of the year, which means that March Madness is almost upon us! The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will begin with the First Four games at the UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio, and end with the Final Four at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Selection Sunday

In just a few more weeks, we will find out which teams have made it to the NCAA tournament. The Selection Sunday is on March 17th, and CBS will unveil the men’s bracket at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT). On this day, the NCAA will announce the 68 teams that made it to the tournament, along with the seeding and location of their games.

The First Four

The NCAA Tournament, popularly known as March Madness, will commence on March 17, 2024, with the First Four games. The tournament will continue for almost three weeks until the championship game on April 8, 2024. There will be a total of seven rounds, including the First Four, throughout the tournament.

  • First Four: March 19-20
  • First round: March 21-22
  • Second round: March 23-24
  • Sweet 16: March 28-29
  • Elite Eight: March 30-31
  • Final Four: April 6
  • Championship game: April 8

March Madness is aptly named as the tournament has witnessed some surprising results over the years that have shaken up the playing field. Starting with 68 teams, the list will be reduced to 64, then 32, Sweet 16, Elite Eight, Final Four, and finally two teams will compete in the National Championship game.
