NCAA: Lee Corso’s picks for the 2024 college football season

The 2024 NCAA college football season got underway last Saturday, August 24, 2024, with “Week Zero″ games with the full slate of games for “Week 1″ starting last Thursday, August 29, 2024, and continue through the Labor Day weekend.

This early start is typical for the NCAA, with some schools playing in “Week Zero″ games and this year the first college football game will be played in Dublin, Ireland where Florida State will take on Georgia Tech at Aviva Stadium where a 48,000 capacity crowd enjoyed the college action as Georgia overcame Florida.

Corso looks ahead

One of the iconic names in college football is Lee Corso, with the 89-year-old an American sports broadcaster and football analyst for ESPN and a former coach. He has been an analyst on ESPN’s College GameDay program since its inception in 1987.

The first full Saturday of college football season is upon us which means ESPN’s College Gameday is back to its regular format and we got to see Corso in action for the first time as the 89-year old didn’t make the trip with the show to Dublin last week.

Corso offered his his picks for the forthcoming season and the former Indiana and Northern Illinois head coach is very optimistic about Notre Dame and tips the Fighting Irish ahead of the 2024 season, so much so that he sees the Irish making it all the way to the final four.

Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Texas are the quartet of teams who Corso singled out to be the last four teams standing in the 12-team playoff with the veteran analyst tipping Texas for the title.
