The 2026 National Championship Game is set: Who will fight for the March Madness title?
Only two teams remain in the 2026 March Madness bracket, as Indianapolis prepares to witness the crowning of college basketball’s latest champion.

We’ve got our NCAA men’s basketball championship matchup! Sixty‑eight teams tipped off March Madness with hopes of cutting down the nets, but only two punched their ticket to the title game.
UConn, led by Dan Hurley, will look to cement its dominance over the college hoops landscape in recent years, while Dusty May’s Michigan squad aims to add yet another chapter to what has become a golden era for Wolverines athletics (they won the 2024 national championship in football and reached this year’s Frozen Four in hockey).
How UConn reached the National Championship
After knocking out Furman, UCLA, Michigan State and Duke in the opening four rounds, the Huskies rolled into the title decider on Saturday, defeating Illinois 71-62 in the National Semifinals. This will be UConn’s third National Championship Game in four years, reaffirming the program’s status as the sport’s current standard‑bearer at the highest level of player development. This stage is nothing new for UConn - and once they’ll aim to secure their seventh national title.
How Michigan reached the National Championship
Michigan, meanwhile, beat Howard, St. Louis, Alabama and Tennessee, before downing fellow top seed Arizona in the semis. The Wolverines, who prevailed 91-73 on Saturday, have controlled nearly every matchup they’ve played, and their presence in the final is simply the payoff for a complete, consistent team effort. Michigan continues to prove that elite competition across multiple sports is possible - even without the biggest budget in college athletics.

When is UConn vs Michigan?
The 2026 National Championship Game between the Huskies and Wolverines will take place on Monday, April 6, at 8:50 p.m. ET/5:50 p.m. PT. Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, will play host to a brand‑new chapter in college basketball history.
