How much money does Todd Golden make as head coach with the Florida Gators? The HC’s contract details
We take a look at the salary commanded by the Gators’ men’s basketball coach, who is bidding to lead Florida to March Madness glory.
Florida Gators boss Todd Golden, who is aiming to lead the team to its third men’s NCAA title, is not among college basketball’s top-paid head coaches.
How much does Todd Golden earn at the Gators?
According to figures compiled by USA Today earlier this month, Golden is currently on a $3.6 million annual salary in Florida, where he has been at the helm of the Gators since 2022.
That leaves the 39-year-old well short of the highest-earning head coach in the men’s college game: the Kansas Jayhawks’ Bill Self, who pockets $8.8 million a year, per USA Today.
The media outlet also notes, however, that Golden can make up to $400,000 in bonuses this season, depending on his team’s progress in the NCAA Division I tournament, better known as March Madness.
The Gators’ March Madness path so far
Having led the Gators to this year’s SEC conference title, Golden has now piloted Florida to March Madness’s championship.
The Gators beat SEC rival Auburn 79-73 in the final four to claim their spot in the final game. They took on Maryland in the Sweet 16 and won easily 87 - 71.
The 32-4 Gators had booked their place in the last 16 by eliminating back-to-back defending champions the UConn Huskies in the second round on Sunday.
That 77-75 victory followed a comprehensive opening-round win over the Norfolk State Spartans on Friday, when Golden’s men triumphed 95-69.
The Gators last won the March Madness tournament in 2007, having lifted their maiden NCAA championship the year before.
When is the Florida Gators’ next March Madness game?
In the Championship, the Gators take on the Houston Cougars on Monday, April 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8:50 p.m. ET, and viewers in the U.S. can watch the game on CBS.
