Caitlin Clark, a college female basketball player, was recently named a semifinalist for the Naismith Player of the Year Award. This accolade comes after winning the same award last season. Clark has had an exceptional season, leading the nation in assists (8.6 per game) and scoring (32 points per game). She has also broken records by scoring 3,771 career points, surpassing Pete Maravich on March 3 to become the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I.

As Clark prepares for her final March Madness tournament, right after Selection Sunday, she opened up about her journey through collegiate basketball, expressing a mix of excitement, nostalgia, and anticipation. She reflected on the past, acknowledging that she was nervous and anxious earlier in her career during Selection Sunday, wondering about the team’s draw. However, she has now accepted that she has no control over it and is thrilled that her program has earned the top seed for the first time since the early ‘90s.

Clark emphasized the team’s recent performances, pointing out the need to carry that momentum into the upcoming tournament. She also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to host games and acknowledged the importance of home-court advantage and the support of their fans. “Anytime you get to host is a huge advantage,” she said.

March Madness 2024: The complete Hawkeyes schedule

The University of Iowa women’s basketball team has achieved an outstanding feat by being selected as a No.1 seed in the Albany Regional 2. This Selection comes after the Hawkeyes won their third consecutive Big Ten Tournament championship and recorded a remarkable 29-4 record. The Hawkeyes are set to play the winner of Holy Cross and the University of Tennessee-Martin in the first round on Saturday, March 23, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.

Fans of the Hawkeyes can expect an exciting game as they take on their opponents in the first round. Despite being the number one-seeded team, their draw doesn’t look that easy. If the Hawkeyes succeed in the first round, they will advance to the second round, where they will play the winner of West Virginia and Princeton on Monday, March 25.
