2024 Pop-Tarts Bowl: preview

Miami will be making a record seventh appearance in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, having won the game three times so far in their history (in 1996, 1998 and 2016).

The Hurricanes are 10-2 this season (6-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference), but have stuttered in recent games. Mario Cristobal’s men won their first nine matches of the 2024 regular season, including five victories in a row in the ACC, but missed out on the conference’s championship game thanks to late-campaign defeats to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Syracuse Orange.

Meanwhile, Iowa State will be chasing their first ever Pop-Tarts Bowl win, in their third appearance in the bowl game.

The Cyclones head into the clash with a 10-3 record (7-2 in the Big 12), but have also endured end-of-season disappointment. Matt Campbell’s team were well beaten in the Big 12 Championship Game on December 7, losing 45-19 to the Arizona State Sun Devils at AT&T Stadium.
