The Nations League has gone so smoothly for Spain that they only need a point from this evening’s game to reach the finals, to be played in June next year between the four group winners.

Luis Enrique celebrated his first match in charge with a victory – a prestigious one at that, which puts Spain in a good position at the start of the UEFA Nations League.

This evening Spain has a ‘double-opener’: the opening game for head coach Luis Enrique and the team’s debut match in the new Uefa Nations League.

Yugoslavia failed to win any major footballing honour and neither subsequently have any of the nations that emerged after the break-up of the former federation.
