David BeckerAFP

As we prepare for the 18th and final week of the 2022-23 NFL regular season, the 2023 NFL Draft is picture is beginning to take shape. Though we still have one game outstanding from Week 17, with the untimely and sad suspension of the Bills vs Bengals game on Monday night, due to Damar Hamil’s on field cardiac arrest, we’ve definitely got a better idea as we head into the season’s finale.

The Texans could take No. 1

Given the kind of campaign that they’ve endured, it’s no surprise The Houston Texans are in contention for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft. How does it break down? If they lose their final game in Week 18 to the Indianapolis Colts, they take the No. 1 pick. On the other hand, if the Texans win their game and the Chicago Bears lose to the Minnesota Vikings, then it will be the Bears who get to select this year’s best prospect. With regards to the rest of the top 5, if we assume for the moment that things stay the same after Week 18, it will be the Seahawks, Cardinals and Colds who complete the picture.

Who’s top of the pile in the 2023 NFL Draft?

This year’s NFL Draft promises to be interesting to say the least. With two top prospects in the QB department as well as two special pass rushers, there’s something for everyone. Out of Alabama there is the talented signal caller Bryce Young who has been turning in displays well ahead of his young age and indeed, so too has Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud who will undoubtedly enter the Draft as a coveted commodity. Then of course, there’s Alabama’s edge rusher, Will Anderson and Georgia’s defensive tackle Jalen Carter, both of whom are currently projected to be the first two defensive players off the board.
