The 2024 NFL schedule is set to be released on Wednesday, May 15th at 8:00 p.m. ET, but as is often the case, a few of the clashes have already been leaked. With that, we’ve got a glance at some rather interesting match-ups which we will continue to share with you more of them become available in the leadup to Wednesday’s release

2024 NFL schedule: What do we know so far?

As mentioned above, the 2024 NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday night, however, we do have confirmation of a handful of games so far and by the looks of things, the defending champion, Kansas City Chiefs, will have their hands full from Week 1. Facing two teams with whom they have developed a heated rivalry in quick succession, the games will be intense, to say the least. In Week 1, Patrick Mahomes and Co. will take on the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener. The Ravens were of course the team that the Chiefs defeated in this year’s AFC Championship Game, before going on to win their second straight Super Bowl.

This brings us to the Chiefs’ Week 2 opponent, something we learned on Tuesday morning via CBS’ Mornings program during which former Steelers coach and current NFL Today analyst Bill Cowher announced that the Chiefs will host Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 on September 15th. The game will mark the fifth time that Burrow and Mahomes meet. At present the Chiefs are 0-2 during the regular season with both start and are 1-1 in the playoffs. The most recent meeting between the teams occurred on New Year’s Eve last year, but Jake Browning filled in for an injured Burrow on that day in what turned out to be a 25-17 Chiefs win. As for Burrow and Mahomes, the last time the two met was the 2023 AFC Championship game, where the Chiefs won 23-20. On that day, Mahomes threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns, while Burrow threw for 270 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

As for the other games that we’ve learned about, here’s the breakdown of what we know so far:

Week 1: Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns, September 8th, Fox, 4:25 p.m. ET - The Cowboys, who are expected to be among the front-runners for most prime-time spots, will be on the road in the afternoon against the Browns. Incidentally, the game will also see the debut of Tom Brady as a color commentator for Fox.

Week 1: Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs, September 5th, NBC, 8:00 p.m. ET - As mentioned above, this one will see a rematch of last season’s AFC championship game, where the Chiefs got the W on their way to a second consecutive Super Bowl title. With arguably the two best quarterbacks in the league on show, expect it to be as epic as the last time they met if not more so.

Week 1: Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles, September 6th, in São Paulo, Brazil - It’s always a good time when the NFL takes its show on the road. In keeping with that, the league’s first game in Brazil is understandably a highly anticipated fixture and will feature two playoff teams. On a point of trivia, it will also be the first time that the NFL plays a game on Friday since 1970.

Week 1: New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers, September 9th, ESPN, 8:20 p.m. ET - After losing Super Bowl LVIII, the 49ers begin their latest bid to end their long title drought with a Monday Night Football clash against the New York Jets. As well as seeing Jets head coach Robert Saleh face his former team, the game is set to witness New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ return to NFL action.

Week 2: Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins, September 12th, Amazon Prime Video, 8:15 p.m. ET - The Dolphins have reached the NFL Playoffs for the past two years, but it is 24 years since they last won a postseason game. Will this be the season they finally break their duck? In Week 2, they’ll host AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills, who have been eliminated in the Divisional round in each of the last three seasons.
