AJ Brown’s game-changing read: The book that NFL fans can’t get enough of
During the Philadelphia Eagles' Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, cameras caught WR A.J. Brown reading a book on the sidelines.

When cameras caught Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown reading on the sidelines during their first-round playoff game, many people’s minds immediately assumed the worst. Many fans thought it was a sign that he was frustrated, perhaps with how small an impact he’d made on the game so far.
As it turns out, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“I wasn’t frustrated at all,” said Brown. “I figured that’s what y’all probably thought. Why do you always think I be frustrated? Dang. I like to read.”
Inner Excellence
The book that Brown was reading on the sidelines is one that actually helps motivate him and stay focused. It’s called “Inner Excellence: Train Your Mind for Extraordinary Performance and the Best Possible Life”. It was written by Jim Murphy, who has experience as a professional athlete and coach.

After the Eagles beat the Packers 22-10, Brown explained that he brings the book to every game and that this just happened to be the first time the cameras captured him reading it. He later posted to social media explaining the significance this book holds for him, while his displeasure for people’s assumptions was evident.
#eagles WR A.J. Brown handed me a beaten up paperback copy of Inner Excellence. Full of handwritten notes and highlighted sections. He has it with him every game and you can tell it’s been knocked off benches on sidelines week after week. Brown then showed me the passage he reads… pic.twitter.com/y2p8vODaps

“This game is 90% mental and 10% physical for me,” wrote Brown on X. “I bring it to every game and I read it between each drive. I use it to refocus and lock in despite what may transpire in the game good or bad. People tend to create controversy when they don’t know the truth.”
The book is described as a “life guide” and has endorsements from several other professional athletes and coaches, including Tiger Woods’ PGA Tour coach Matt Killen, British Open champion Stewart Cink, and three-time PGA Tour winner Vaughn Taylor.
AJ Brown and the Eagles are facing the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, and among the Philadelphia fans in the stands, copies of the book have been spotted. It already seems to be turning into a lucky charm or a cult object among the supporters.
