Netflix‘s hit docuseries, “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” premiered its first season in June of this year. The seven-part series followed the lives of the famous cheerleaders all the way from the grueling auditions process and throughout the football season, but it also took a deeper look into the personal lives of the women, both the ones who made it onto the squad and some of those who didn’t.

The series was an immediate hit, with audiences praising it for bringing to light some struggles the DCC face, such as low pay, long and difficult hours, and even body image issues. It soared to Netflix’s top 10 worldwide chart with 2.3 million views within its first four days.

“America’s Sweethearts” season 2 confirmed

With fans gobbling up the series as soon as it was released, many were wondering if a season two would be coming. Emmy Award winning director Greg Whitely had said that he hoped for a season two, but now it has officially been confirmed.

Watch the teaser below:

Season one stayed on the list of top 10 U.S. TV shows for five straight weeks and was in the top 10 in 27 other countries as well. Their pre-game routine to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” became a viral TikTok dance trend (though few actually attempted the famous jump split).

The second season will follow the 2024-25 cheer squad from the auditions process and training camp and into the season.

“Our last two or three weeks of filming [season one], we were just starting to hit our stride,” said Whitely. “I’d love to have more time to see if we can get deeper and deeper with more and more of the team.”

Whitely got his wish and fans can look forward to an even deeper dive into the lives and world of the DCC. An exact release date has not yet been announced, only that season two will premiere in 2025. Season one was released June 20, 2024, and of course, we’ll have to wait until the end of the 2024 football season, plus the postproduction process. So a summer 2025 release for season two seems a likely possibility.
