Update:

Just one week in the NFL season is all it takes for the injuries to pile up. And as we head into Week 2 of the 2025 season, tight ends around the league seem to have been hit hard.

Of the more notable injuries from Week 1 are San Francisco 49ers’ George Kittle and Las Vegas Raiders’ Brock Bowers. Kittle suffered a hamstring injury that landed him on the Injured Reserve list, so he’s set to miss a minimum of four games. Bowers left his game early too with a knee injury and his status is still up in the air for Week 2. Here’s a look at all the tight ends on the injury list for Week 2 of the NFL season.

Injured TEs in Week 2

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers (hamstring): Kittle is officially out for Week 2 and placed on the Injured Reserve list. The soonest he can return is Week 6 when the Niners face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 12th.

Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders (knee): Bowers is listed as questionable for Week 2 after leaving the game early on Sunday. The Raiders face the Los Angeles Chargers for Monday Night Football this week, so he has some extra time to recover.

Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders (NIR - rest): Ertz did not participate in practice on Wednesday and is listed on the injury report, but it’s a non-injury related reason, so he doesn’t seem to be in danger of missing time in Week 2 when they face the Green Bay Packers.

Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens (ankle): Likely suffered a small foot fracture during training camp and had surgery to repair it in late July. He avoided the IR list, but he missed Week 1. His status for Week 2 is questionable after missing practice on Wednesday.

Evan Engram, Denver Broncos (calf): Engram, who played just nine games last season due to injuries, left the Broncos’ Week 1 game early due to a calf injury and did not return. His status for Week 2 is questionable as the Broncos will likely be cautious with him.

Darren Waller, Miami Dolphins (hip): Not only is his status questionable for Week 2, but Waller’s status in Miami at all is uncertain. Waller, who came out of retirement this offseason, missed Miami’s season-opening loss to the Colts due to a hip strain. Head coach Mike McDaniel indicated that Waller’s availability is uncertain moving forward, suggesting the team may ultimately decide it’s too risky to keep him active for the season if the injury persists.

Cade Stover, Houston Texans (foot): The rookie Stover suffered a broken foot in Sunday’s Week 1 loss to the Rams and will be sidelined indefinitely. He was placed in a boot after the injury.

Here are a few other tight ends who aren’t starters, but are on the injury report nonetheless:

  • John Stephens Jr., Dallas Cowboys (undisclosed) - IR
  • Erick All Jr., Cincinnati Bengals (knee) - Reserve/PUP list
  • Nate Adkins, Denver Broncos (ankle) - Questionable
